Mark Hamill Reveals His Real Phone Number Was Used in ‘Star Wars: A New Hope‘. As time goes on celebrities tend to dish out a few secrets that were well kept at the time of production. Whether it’s secret cameos, behind the scenes stories, or props stolen from film sets, it’s always a fun surprise when one of these details is revealed! One secret that remained for nearly 40-years after the films initial release was kept by the cast of Star Wars: A New Hope. Actor, Mark Hamill, revealed that he included his real life phone number in the film to “imortalize” it forever.
Hamill shared, “In the scene where we’re trying to get out of the garbage masher, I was supposed to say, ‘Threepio, open the…’ and give this long serial number. So I had planned all along to say, ‘2-,’ so my own number would be forever preserved on film.” With how the scene was blocked, Harrison Ford wound up having the line but Hamill refused to let up on Ford, asking his co-star repeatedly to say his number. Mark shared, “Finally, Harrison read my number and said, ‘Happy now, you big baby?’ And I laughed because I felt busted ’cause I’d been acting like a two-year-old.”
Hamill also recently shared he has multiple un-credited cameos through out the Star Wars films and shows. We love that even decades after the films release we are still learning new things about the original Star Wars films! It just goes to show how impactful and loved the franchise truly is. What are some of your favorite stories you have heard about the Star Wars movies? We would love to hear them in the comments.
