'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil' Blu-Ray and DVD Review

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil‘ Blu-Ray and DVD Review. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is a cinematic display of creative storytelling that looks into the “happily ever after” of Queen of the Moors, Aurora, and her Godmother, Maleficent. The film touches on many topics throughout the film, including fear vs. love, right vs. wrong, and nature vs. nurture.

The cast consists of Angelina Jolie (Maleficent), Elle Fanning (Aurora), Michelle Pfieffer (Queen Ingrith) and Harris Dickinson (Prince Philip). The cover includes the characters: Queen Ingrith, Maleficent, and Aurora, with Maleficent’s wings, staff, and film logo made of an iridescent and textured material. No lie, I spent a good minute rolling the case back and forth before opening the DVD because it was so pretty!

The synopsis of the film leaves plenty of mystery, while still letting you know there is adventure in store.

“Maleficent travels to a grand old castle to celebrate young Aurora’s upcoming wedding to Prince Phillip. While there, she meets Aurora’s future mother-in-law — a conniving queen who hatches a devious plot to destroy the land’s fairies. Hoping to stop her, Maleficent joins forces with a seasoned warrior and a group of outcasts to battle the queen and her powerful army.”

We thoroughly enjoyed watching the film in the comfort of our home and the quality of the film was not lost in translation from the big screen to small screen. The film explores many visually stunning moments, including high contrast in color, visual effects including flames and smoke, and the costumes in the film are unparalleled in their regalia. Be sure to pick up your copy of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil when it hits shelves on Jan 14, 2020!
