According to the Themed Entertainment Association’s 2021 Index, Magic Kingdom was the number one theme park visited last year. Universal Orlando was close behind, though, and beat three of Disney’s other theme parks.

The Themed Entertainment Association Index is widely referenced within the industry, but it should be noted that neither Disney Parks nor Universal Parks & Resorts release attendance numbers to any outside party, so these numbers are based on estimations and other methodologies.

It is no surprise that Magic Kingdom was the most visited theme park in America in 2021. Universal’s Islands of Adventure came in second place. The increase in guests at Islands of Adventure may be due to convenience as well as new attractions like VelociCoaster and Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure.

Universal Studios Florida took third place beating Disney’s Hollywood Studios by over 400,000. Following Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ fourth place is the original Disney theme park, Disneyland in fifth. In sixth place, Epcot is bouncing back after the pandemic closure with almost 8 million visitors in 2021.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom takes seventh place on the list. Universal Hollywood took eighth place overall but is the second most visited theme park in California. Disney California Adventure came in ninth followed by Knott’s Berry Farm in tenth on the 2021 Theme Park Attendance Index.

Did you visit any of these theme parks in 2021? If so, which ones?
