Lucasfilms fires Mandalorian Star Gina Carano Amid Social Media Controversy

It looks like Mandalorian Star Gina Carano will not be returning to the Star Wars universe according to a statement issued by Lucasfilms.

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,”

“Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Earlier today Carano was trending on social media after The Mandalorian actor shared a post inferring that hating someone for their political views today is like being Jewish during the Holocaust on her Instagram.

The post was removed not long after being met with severe backlash.

This is not the first time that fans have called for Cara’s termination from The Mandalorian. Her social media posts have generated a lot of controversies and the hashtag #FireGinaCarano has trended frequently over the past few months.

There is no word if her character will be replaced or just written off the Mandalorian.

One fan thinks Lana Parrilla would be a good fit for the role.

  1. Wake up. We should be able to have opinions. Whether or not you agree does not matter. Respect our rights. Liberty is being able to share your thoughts freely. Media is extremely biased. We should strive to protect everyone’s right to speech. Our current censorship culture is very concerning. I am very sad a person is fired for her opinion.

  2. That’s really very sad. She is someone that made me want to watch each episode…really, one of ‘thee’ main reasons I like the show so much. ..I don’t see why what she posted is so bad??? It is clear to me that she showed no hatred or anything like that. Maybe she might have worded her thoughts better, but to fire her for her attempts to voice her thoughts on history…??? Really…??? This country really and truly is lost. Truly. Lost. Maybe I might have to say goodbye to the Mandalorian. As much as I truly liked the show, I really find this firing of her so disappointing that I think it’s time to turn my back on ALL of tv and hollywood. The time, it seems, has come. Back to reading books I guess. ..Very very disappointed.
