Lucasfilm is No Longer Actively Working on the ‘Rangers of the New Republic‘ Disney+ Series. Rangers of the New Republic was meant to be a spin-off series with the characters Cara Dune and Bo-Katan Kryze from The Mandalorian. Many Star Wars fans were concerned about the future of the series after the very public firing of Gina Carano by Lucasfilm and Disney earlier this year. Now, it seems their worries were warranted.

Reportedly, Rangers of the New Republic is not currently in active development at Lucasfilm. This detail was shared in an article by Variety while discussing the projects such as Ahsoka and The Book of Boba Fett that are currently under the oversight of executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. Variety shared: “A third announced spinoff, “Rangers of the New Republic,” is not currently in active development” confirming the halt on the development of the series.

Rangers of the New Republic would have starred Gina Carano (Cara Dune) and Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan Kryze), with the potential of adding Bill Burr’s Mayfeld to the roster. Not much else was known about the series and is it unclear how Lucasfilm plans to move forward with The Mandalorian season 3 given Carano’s absence. There have been rumors that Lucasfilm may be re-working the Rangers of the New Republic series, but it seems any new development will have to wait.
