Director Angus MacLane took to Twitter this week to share his opinion on why Disney-Pixar’s latest film, Lightyear, has performed so poorly at the box office and received negative reviews from critics online.
MacLane responded to a question online by Twitter user @sherelleigh which asked, “Naythan and I loved Lightyear, I dunno why it has such low reviews on IMDb??” The Director’s response was: “Short answer: much like the second chapter of THE HOBBIT, it mainly has to do with trolls“
Currently, Disney-Pixar’s Lightyear has earned approximately $193.5 Million globally according to BoxOfficeMojo and at the time of writing has a 5.3/10 rating on IMDb. However, on Rotten Tomatoes the film has a surprisingly certified fresh rating of 75% by critics and an 85% score by audiences.
Have you seen Lightyear in theaters? Did you enjoy the film or do you believe it deserves the harsh reviews? We are interested to hear your thoughts and suggestions in the comments. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Company for updates and all things Disney-Pixar!
