Let’s Make Mickey Waffles with Carbon’s Golden Malted Mix!

Make Mickey Waffles

As your average person, I love waffles. As your average Disney Addict, I LOVE MICKEY WAFFLES, and I love to Make Mickey Waffles! Many might think that all Mickey Waffles are the same, but there’s one ingredient that is a must for me. To recreate the Mickey Waffles from the Parks and Resorts, Carbon’s Golden Malted Pancake & Waffle mix is the ultimate MUST HAVE.

Let’s make waffles!

Make Mickey Waffles

Since 1937, when Carbon’s developed their patented recipe for Golden Malted Waffle & Pancake Mix, they’ve been creating delicious golden-brown waffles and light & fluffy pancakes. This mix is used in the recipe for Mickey and other character waffles at the Disney Parks and Resorts. They have a unique blend of real malt and vanilla. Even making regular Sunday morning pancakes with this mix is a delicious variation to the normal boxed mixes at the store.

For my Mickey waffles, and in this video, I used the recipe from thedisneychef.com with a variation. I omit the flour, baking soda, and salt and instead use 2 cups of Carbon’s Golden Malted Pancake & Waffle mix. Of course a Mickey Waffle Maker is Key too! There are all kinds that are available to use, and I’ll list a few at the end of the article.

Without further delay, let’s get on with the video! The recipe will also be available below.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup (half a stick) of butter or margarine, melted, cooled to room temp
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups Carbon’s Golden Malted Pancake & Waffle Mix

ingridients

INSTRUCTIONS

Beat egg yolks in a large bowl until the sugar is thoroughly mixed and the yolks are thick and sunny colored. Add the milk, cooled melted butter, and vanilla extract and stir until combined. Then add Carbon’s Golden Malted Pancake & Waffle Mix. Mix well, but be sure not to over mix. If the mixture is too thick, add more milk until the mixture resembles that of thick pudding.
In a separate bowl, using a mixer, beat egg whites until stiff. Using a rubber spatula, gently fold the egg whites into the batter. DO NOT MIX. Bake, following the instructions of your waffle maker until golden brown. These waffles rise and get very fluffy so be sure not to add to much batter. For those using a lock-lid waffle maker, this is especially important.

It is important to note that the crispness of the waffle will depend on the type of Waffle Maker you use.

Carbon’s Golden Malted is the largest supplier of waffle mix in the United States for the best hotels, universities, restaurants and theme parks, like our Beloved Disney Parks! They’ve been around for over 75 years, and are a true American classic. I love finding a company that has endured the test of time, and still makes delicious quality product. Many hotels around Disney’s theme parks also offer waffle breakfasts, including ones that have Mickey Waffles, and many of them too use Carbon’s Golden Malted. Although a commercial supplier, and originally hard to get your hands on at home, you can now order their mix and gift sets on their site online!

They have a fabulous Holiday gift set, that comes with a traditional Belgian waffle maker, and a Holiday themed canister of mix here! Or if you just want the Holiday Canister for perfect Holiday gift giving, you can see that here!

Here are a few of the different Disney Waffle Makers that can be found:

It was a pleasure making Mickey Waffles at home for you all, and I hope you enjoyed the video! Don’t worry no Mickey waffles were wasted in the making of this video, many friends got to enjoy the deliciousness! I’d like to say no one was harmed, but I did manage to burn my finger during one of the video attempts ahaha!

Are you excited to make Mickey Waffles at home with the delicious Carbon’s Malted Waffle & Pancake mix?
