Even though a new live-action Batman movie is currently in theaters, we are going to see an exciting new animated Batman later this year! Keanu Reeves will play Batman in the upcoming DC Comics animated feature film DC League of Super-Pets.

Based on the trailer’s short, gravelly exchange between the vigilante and his canine companion, Ace the hound (Kevin Hart), it’s very clear that Warner Bros.’ decision to bring Reeves aboard to play Bruce Wayne is one of the most inspired comic book casting since Nicolas Cage was tapped to play Spider-Man Noir for Into the Spider-Verse.
“In the film, Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side,” reads the synopsis. “When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the Super Heroes.”
Dwayne Johnson is the voice of Krypto. The cast of DC League of Super-Pets also includes Reeves, Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, and Diego Luna. DC League of Super-Pets is directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine, from a script written by Stern. Johnson and Stern produce alongside Patricia Hicks, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia. John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, and Nicholas Stoller all serve as executive producers.
DC League of Super-Pets bounds into theaters everywhere Friday, May 20.
