There is no denying that The Mandalorian has been a raging success for Lucasfilm and Disney. Initially, Executive Producer Jon Favreau had been tapped to oversee production of the first season of the series and reports are now surfacing that after the positive response by Star Wars fans Jon Favreau signed an “insane deal” with Lucasfilm to develop more Star Wars content, including more of The Mandalorian.

Though no numbers or percentages have been made public knowledge at this time, this incredibly lucrative deal is said to be wrought with incentives and bonuses depending on the success of future Star Wars content. At the time of The Mandalorian‘s debut on Disney+, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy shared:
“I couldn’t be more excited about Jon coming on board to produce and write for the new direct-to-consumer platform. Jon brings the perfect mix of producing and writing talent, combined with a fluency in the Star Wars universe. This series will allow Jon the chance to work with a diverse group of writers and directors and give Lucasfilm the opportunity to build a robust talent base.”
