Jimmy Novak is saving veterans lives one step at a time.
The 42 year old retired soldier has one goal in mind for 2019 and he is very close to reach it. After 21 years of serving as a member of the U.S Army Chemical Cops, Jimmy decided he wanted to use his passion for life for a good cause and help others raising awareness against suicide.
He plans to walk across the United States, 22 miles a day from his home in Washington to Walt Disney World in Florida.
“Im very grateful to still be here” Novak said. “So, what i hope to do by being out here is to encourage people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, to reach out and seek help early”.
Jimmy started his journey on March 22 and plans to finish it on August 22.
“I have 2,738 miles on my feet as of right now since March” Novak said. “So, its been a good summer”
He chose the number 22 due to its big meaning behind it, its the number of veterans who take their own lives each day.
“Everywhere i go, people want to help me be successful” said Jimmy. “So i’ve walked into stranger’s yards to ask for water and had them not only fill up my water, but offer me a place to stay for the night and a meal”
Jimmy will finish his mission on his 43rd birthday on August 22 at Walt Disney World where his family will be waiting for him.
