James Gunn Gave Director Taika Waititi Insight on ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3‘ for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder‘. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has many moving parts, and without proper attention to detail the stories would fall apart. Marvel Studios has done well so far to make sure congruent stories are maintained down to the finest details to prevent plot holes and inconsistency between ever evolving stories. Part of that is due to communication between production teams.

This week Guardians of the Galaxy franchise writer and director James Gunn shared that at the beginning of pre-production for Thor: Love and Thunder, he and director Taika Waititi shared scripts with each other to make sure the characters maintained their respective storylines, while still telling their own stories as creators in both movies.

Gunn regularly does Q+A’s with fans online and was recently asked, “How much input will you have on Thor: Love & Thunder?” to which James replied and shared, “Not much, & [Taika Waititi} is doing a great job – the script is amazing. We talked before he started writing it about where the characters are & where they’re going & he read the script for Vol 3 & the I read his script & shared my thoughts.”

Currently, Thor: Love and Thunder is filming in Sydney, Australia and we recently got a glimpse of Guardians of the Galaxy members Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Nebula (Karen Gillan), and Kraglin (Sean Gunn) on set, with Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and rocking new looks for the film.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to premiere on May 6, 2022 and will star Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster/The Mighty Thor), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), and Christian Bale (Gorr the God Butcher). Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for updates and all things Marvel!
