Is Sony Pushing Back the 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage' Release to 2022?

Is Sony Pushing Back ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ Release to 2022? During Monday’s CinemaCon presentation, Sony Pictures notably left out footage or a trailer sneak peek from the upcoming film, leaving fans to believe the studio is looking to push back the theatrical release to 2022. The move has seen several delays, and as COVID-19 and Delta variant cases surge it seems the studio is opting to push back the film in order to have an optimum release.

Reportedly, Disney and Sony are also in talks about a potential buyout deal that would award Disney and Marvel Studios the full rights to Spider-Man characters, so another delay may mean the studios are making deals behind closed doors that would prevent the film’s release this fall.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is currently scheduled to release on October 15, 2021, but a release delay announcement is expected within the coming weeks. Should Sony move the release date for the Venom sequel we also expect Mobius starring Jared Leto to be pushed back once again, with Venom 2 taking the January 21, 2022 Sony Pictures release date.
