Is a new Lando series coming to Disney+? A recent TV interview featuring Donald Glover has Star Wars fans hopeful he’ll return soon to a famous galaxy far, far away!
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy first announced a limited series based on the character of Lando Calrissian during 2020’s Disney Investor Day. But, there’s been few updates since the announcement. We know Disney has plans for Lando Calrissian to appear in live action again, but we haven’t received a timeline on when production will start.

Now, Glover has provided an update of his own on the series’ development. In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! promoting Atlanta season 3, he was directly asked about the “Lando project” he was working on for Disney+. The late night talk show host tried asking Glover if he’s starting work on it anytime soon. Donald Glover gave the following reply:
“Am I? Just telling all my business. No, yeah, I have a lot of things. I like to blossom then go away. Right now is definitely the start of another one of those. I have like a ton of stuff I’ve been working on, but I just want it all to come out at the same time, so I feel like that’s what’s important.”
Now the actor could just be playing coy with the public. However, Star Wars Celebration is coming up in Anaheim at the end of May 2022. It would be the perfect opportunity for some news about this all-new Disney+ show to finally be finally announced.
Glover expertly dodges any direct confirmation about being involved in the new series, yet by not debunking the idea and by confessing that he’s about to be quite busy, it would seem like this confirms he’s involved in the project. Given that fans have been wondering about the project since it was announced, this will surely come as good news to audiences eager to see the new Lando series.
