We Have Stories wants your help. There is a go fund me account to help send girls in South Los Angeles, Watts, & Compton to see Captain Marvel. They believe every girl deserves the opportunity to see this film to be inspired for what they can achieve when they grow up; strong, bold, and smart.
But why Captain Marvel? Captain Marvel is the first woman led movie by Marvel Studios. She shows girls and women everywhere how to be powerful. Most female characters in showbiz rely on romance to heighten their character. Not Captain Marvel. In the movie, it also showcases many female characters and diversity of women in careers, race, and talents. The film is co-directed by women, and releases on Woman’s Day during Woman’s History Month.
We Have Stories wants every girl part of Girls Inc LA to be able to witness this film.
The cost is simple. $13.00 per child ticket. $13.00 refreshments per child. $17.00 per chaperone ticket. All donations and receipts will be sent to donors following the finish of the campaign. Any extra donations raised will go directly to helping the non-profits Girls Inc LA and We Have Stories to continue to show these girls their strengths. They would like to expand their growth by 2020 by reaching 2,000 girls. They continue to commit in providing for “underrepresented and marginalized storytellers and content creators.”
