Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion Closing August 2025 for Holiday Overlay
Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion is set to close temporarily next month, most likely to undergo its annual transformation into “Haunted Mansion Holiday,” featuring the beloved “The Nightmare Before Christmas” overlay.

Disney had previously confirmed that Haunted Mansion Holiday would return for the upcoming Halloween season. According to the calendar on the attraction’s webpage, the ride is set to close starting Monday, August 11, 2025. While this specific closure hasn’t been officially confirmed as being for the holiday overlay, the timing perfectly aligns with previous years’ transformations.
The good news is that Haunted Mansion Holiday is scheduled to reopen on August 22, and will remain open through January 7, 2026. For context, in 2024, the holiday overlay reopened exceptionally early in July, as the ride had been closed since the previous holiday season. In earlier years, the holiday overlay typically debuted around September 1.
During its 2024 closure, the classic attraction underwent significant enhancements, including updated grounds, an ADA-accessible elevator, and the addition of Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond gift shop. When the regular version of The Haunted Mansion reopened in January 2025, it also debuted a new version of the Bride.
Haunted Mansion Holiday, adorned with “The Nightmare Before Christmas” characters and decorations, appears annually through the Halloween and Christmas seasons. While the overlay itself remains largely consistent each year, it always features a new, unique gingerbread display in the ballroom scene, a delightful detail that keeps guests coming back for more.
