Governor Ron DeSantis Urges Disney to Drop its Lawsuit Against Him

In an upcoming interview with CNBC, scheduled to air tonight at 7 p.m. ET on August 14, Governor Ron DeSantis reveals that he has put behind him the disputes with The Walt Disney Company and is advocating for the resolution of the entire matter.

During his conversation with Brian Sullivan, the Florida Governor urged the company to cease its ongoing legal disputes, which emerged as a result of a series of events that strained the relationship between Disney and DeSantis.

Most recently, Governor DeSantis and his legal team have once again asserted immunity, seeking to have the Disney lawsuit dismissed from court on these grounds.


They are suing the state of Florida. They are going to lose that lawsuit. So what I would say is: drop the lawsuit. You have the state that even CNBC ranks as number one of all 50 states for the economy.

DeSantis’ attorneys argue that both the governor and the Secretary of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity lack specific, formal authority to enforce the contested laws. Consequently, Disney is deemed to “lack standing and cannot overcome the State Defendants’ sovereign immunity,” rendering its claims also “precluded by legislative immunity.”
