During a news conference Monday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis praised Florida theme parks for their handling of the pandemic.
“Everyone now acknowledges that theme parks have not led to any type of major outbreaks,” DeSantis said.
Walt Disney World closed for four months during the pandemic and has done very well protecting guests and cast members from the virus.
“We knew because of the way it’s done, they had precautions and all that. It’s outdoors, all these other things,” DeSantis said.

He also spoke about California’s reopening guidelines and how its theme parks, like Disneyland, remain closed.
“And yet California, they’re totally shut down. They have no path to reopen. Who knows when it will,” he said.
California has issued reopening guidelines but they are so strict they are almost impossible to meet. Disneyland has been shut down for eight months now.
Speaking on unemployment and layoffs for theme park workers, DeSantis blamed the federal government suggesting it “should’ve done a relief package months ago”.
Hopefully we will see a relief package in the coming months.
