Chances are that unless you’ve been living in an ocean abyss, you’ve heard of Shark Week. The annual weeklong shark extravaganza on the Discovery Channel has become a popular part of their programming, not to mention the longest-running television event. It’s been a staple since it premiered in 1988, helping conservation efforts through education by being broadcast in over 72 countries. With the shark population having dwindled by approximately 70% in the last 50 years, conservation has become more important than ever.

If you would love a delicious way to support these fascinating creatures, then look no further than Disney Springs. Gideon’s Bakehouse has decided to raise money for the University of Miami Shark Research Lab which works in shark welfare, conservation, and education. And there are three ways that you can be involved this week!

One way you can help save the sharks is by buying cookies. Really! You can buy the Rocky Road Cookie at either location (Disney Springs and Winter Park) every day this week. It’s a Triple Chocolate Candied Almond Roasted Marshmallow Cookie and it’s only available for Shark Week. Limit 2 per person while supplies last. They cost $7 each and a percentage of that will go to U of Miami Shark Research.

You can also purchase an 11×14 Signed Limited Victor Print (pictured above) available online for $60 or an 8×10 version of the print in stores for $25.

The third and final way that you can support the Shark Research Lab is by donating directly at sharkresearch.rsmas.miami.edu/donate⁣.

⁣You can support sharks by being a Gideon’s Bakehouse customer this year! Don’t forget to watch Shark Week on the Discovery Channel to learn more about shark conservation. Oh and here’s one fast fact to send you on your way: you’re more likely to be bitten by a New Yorker than a shark!
