“Frozen“will pass $500 million in worldwide ticket sales on Monday, the company said.
In the U.S. and Canada alone, the film made an estimated $28.8 million in its 5th weekend in wide release.
The total tally of ticket sales for “Frozen” is split between domestic and international sales at around $250 million for each market.
Disney’s decision to release the film at the end of November was clearly a wise decision. Especially since there was really no other animated movies being released around that time.
“Frozen” had a very strong start, making $93.6 million over the 5 day Thanksgiving weekend. “Frozen” topped the previous record-holder which was “Toy Story 2.”
Disney‘s timing for the release of “Frozen” was similar to the release of “Tangled.” “Frozen” has already passed the total domestic gross for “Tangled,” which was nearly $201 million.
If you missed it theaters don’t forget it is coming to Bluray/DVD in March!
