Universal Orlando Discontinues Fear with Express Passes for Halloween Horror Nights 35

One of the biggest changes coming to Halloween Horror Nights 35 won’t be found inside a haunted house. Instead, it’s happening before guests even arrive at the front gate. Universal Orlando has announced that it has discontinued all Fear with Express Pass products for this year’s event, a move that is already generating passionate reactions from Halloween Horror Nights fans.

In a statement shared on social media, Universal said:

“Hello, as we continue to evaluate our offerings in an effort to provide the best Halloween Horror Nights experience for all Guests, we have discontinued all Fear with Express Pass products. Other Fear pass options will go on sale soon.”

The announcement means guests will no longer be able to purchase a Frequent Fear Pass or Rush of Fear pass bundled with Express access. Standard Frequent Fear Pass options are still expected to become available soon.

The change has quickly divided the Halloween Horror Nights community. Frequent Fear Pass holders who relied on the Express option are understandably disappointed, as it offered the flexibility to visit multiple nights while skipping many of the event’s longest waits. Fans who planned to purchase the tickets are also upset at the delayed announcement from Universal, since Express passes have already been on sale for some time and in some instances have increased in price.

On the other hand, many longtime Halloween Horror Nights fans are welcoming the decision. Over the past several years, Express queues have grown significantly longer, especially on peak nights. In some cases, the Express line itself stretched well beyond what many guests expected from a premium add-on, leading to frustration for both Express users and standby guests alike.

Whether removing the Frequent Fear with Express option improves the experience remains to be seen, but it’s clear Universal is making the change with crowd management in mind.

The timing is especially notable because Halloween Horror Nights 35 is shaping up to be one of the biggest events in the history of the annual scream fest. With a stacked lineup of haunted houses featuring Stranger Things 5, Hellraiser, Sinners, Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control, and more, attendance is expected to be extremely high. The recently announced Sideshow of Decay haunted house also puts the spotlight on former Icon Cindy, fueling fan speculation that additional past Icons could return as part of the event’s 35th anniversary celebration.

Time will tell whether eliminating the Fear with Express option creates shorter Express waits and a better overall experience, but one thing is certain: demand for Halloween Horror Nights 35 isn’t slowing down.
