According to a report filed with Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a Florida Man was arrested for attempting to bring a Glock handgun with 2 magazine rounds of ammunition and a knife into Disney Springs in May of 2022.
35-year-old Aaron Lopez set off the metal detector in Orange Garage as he tried to enter Disney Springs. Lopez was brought over to have his bag investigated by Disney Security who released the following statement in the report:
“I told him I was going to search his bag and he told me he had a folding knife in his bag. I told him to show me the knife then I said I would have to search his bag. Still hasn’t put it on the table at this point. Then he proceeds to say, ‘Oh there’s something else in here besides a knife that I wanna put back in my car.’ He then promptly turned around and walked away.”
Lopez then started to walk back to his car when Disney Security and Orange County Sheriff’s caught up with him before he made it to his car. They found on him a folding knife, a Glock handgun, and two Glock 19 magazines with 17 rounds of ammo in each, and one box with 14 rounds of ammo.
Lopez told the officers that he had submitted the paperwork to register his gun and that he has a concealed carry permit. Officers looked for the registered gun in their system but could not find it.
He was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, which is a felony, according to online Orange Circuit Court records.
Firearms, ammunition, knives, and weapons of any kind are listed on the Disney World Website as prohibited from the Parks, Resorts, and Disney Springs.
