First Signs of Construction Appear Behind Sir Mickey’s Curtains in Magic Kingdom

Something is finally stirring behind the curtains at Sir Mickey’s in Magic Kingdom, and it looks like this once-quiet corner of Fantasyland may be gearing up for a transformation.

It has been about seven months since the PhotoPass studio inside Sir Mickey’s closed its doors, leaving behind a mysterious curtained-off space with little to no visible activity. The studio previously served guests visiting Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique just across the way, capturing those magical princess and knight makeovers.

Now, for the first time since the closure, visible construction elements have appeared. Guests can spot several white support poles rising above the curtains, hinting that work is finally underway behind the scenes. These poles, while not reaching the ceiling, appear tall enough to suggest structural changes are being made within the space.

This lines up with a permit Disney filed earlier this year for the installation of a six-foot wall in the location. While nothing has been officially confirmed, the presence of these supports could indicate that a permanent wall is being constructed, potentially reshaping the layout of the shop.

As for what is coming next, that remains a bit of a Fantasyland mystery. One possibility is that the former PhotoPass studio could be converted into a backstage or operational space rather than returning as a guest-facing experience. For now, Disney has not announced any plans for the area.

It is a small update, but in a park where even the tiniest details can signal bigger changes ahead, these poles might just be the first clue in Sir Mickey’s next chapter.
