Disney Wish Returns to Port Canaveral Early Following Crew Member Medical Emergency
A recent sailing aboard the Disney Wish took an unexpected detour back to shore after a crew member required additional medical care beyond what was available onboard.

According to reports from guests on the ship, the vessel returned early to Port Canaveral on the evening of April 23, docking around 8:00 PM instead of its originally scheduled Friday morning arrival. Despite the early return, guests remained onboard overnight and followed the standard debarkation schedule the next morning.
One guest onboard shared that while the situation required the ship to head back to port, it was not considered an urgent emergency requiring a Coast Guard evacuation or helicopter transport. Instead, the crew member needed more advanced medical treatment than what could be provided at sea, prompting the decision to return to port.

The ship reportedly spent the night docked at Cruise Terminal 10 before guests disembarked as planned the following day. While the itinerary itself was not officially cut short, the early arrival meant guests missed out on their final night of sailing.
The Disney Wish is one of several Disney Cruise Line ships sailing from Port Canaveral, alongside the Disney Fantasy and Disney Treasure, with itineraries that typically include stops in the Bahamas and Caribbean. Many sailings also feature visits to Disney’s private island destinations, including Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
While situations like this are rare, they highlight the protocols cruise lines have in place to prioritize the health and safety of both guests and crew, even if it means an early return to port.
