The surprise trailer opens to the saga’s iconic “Duel of the Fates” theme before taking viewers to the desert planet of Tatooine, where the original Star Wars movie also began.

From a distance, Kenobi uses his macrobinoculars to watch a young Luke playing at the Lars homestead in a story set about halfway between the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope.

From there, the teaser whizzes viewers through the Star Wars galaxy as evil Empire agents attempt to track down the last remnants of the Jedi order. The new series takes place ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, so a lot has changed in the galaxy.

The teaser offers many more details about the state of the galaxy during Obi-Wan Kenobi’s exile. It shows how the Inquisitors are in full swing, hunting anyone who they suspect is a Jedi or Jedi sympathizer. People are scared of the Empire, and the Imperials are using that fear to control everything. Obi-Wan will be torn between his duty to protect Luke and his responsibilities as a Jedi Master.

The Grand Inquisitor, member of the Jedi hunters first glimpsed in Star Wars Rebels, is set to make his live-action debut played by Rupert Friend, with Sung Kang debuting the role of Fifth Brother from the series.

Other confirmed cast members include Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse as Owen and Beru Lars, with Jackson, Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, and Maya Erskine in undisclosed roles. There are rumors that Qui-Gon Jinn (played by Liam Neeson in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace) will appear, but time will tell what happens in the series.
