J.J. Abrams, director of Star Wars: Episode IX, tweeted this picture on August 1st which must mean 1 thing.. filming has officially started! This was Abrams first tweet on his Twitter account and he included a very heartfelt message. If you look carefully, you can see John Boyega (Finn) and Daisy Ridley (Rey) in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon, although the picture mainly features a camera. I can only hope they are in the cockpit of the Millenium Falcon!

There are 503 days remaining until the debut of the final chapter. But who’s counting!

Last week, I reported that the much-anticipated cast for Star Wars: Episode IX was officially announced with new and returning cast members. Returning cast members for Star Wars: Episode IX include Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd. Joining the cast of Episode IX are Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant, who will be joined by veteran Star Wars actors Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams, who will revisit his role as Lando Calrissian.

The role of Leia Organa will once again be played by Carrie Fisher by using previously unreleased footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
