Filming for 'Black Panther 2' Temporarily Shut Down Due to Letitia Wright Injury

Filming for ‘Black Panther 2’ Temporarily Shut Down Due to Letitia Wright Injury. While filming in Boston in August, Letitia Wright suffered an undisclosed injury on set due to a failed stunt rig incident and now production has had no choice but to cease as Wright takes time to heal properly and the crew awaits her return to set to finish the film.

The last of the scenes that can be filmed without Letitia’s involvement will take place this month, with the cast and crew reportedly being sent home the week of Thanksgiving and set to return to the studio and finish filming in early 2022. Letitia’s co-star Angela Bassett previously shared about the incident, “She had a little bit of a fall, but it’s not too bad. You know, anything like that will shake you up, but she’s just a little, slight, little petite thing. But she is fine and ready to go.”

Though Marvel Studios recently shifted the theatrical release schedule for the remainder of Phase 4, the studio did not share if Letitia’s injury was a primary concern regarding the delays, instead choosing to focus on shifting projects around to better space out the theatrical releases. Marvel Studios President and CCO Kevin Feige shared with Variety last month, “It’s production shifts and changes, and because we have so many slots, we can just shift slots. All the Marvel slots are the same, we’re just shifting when they’re coming out. And yes, Strange [in the Multiverse of Madness] has moved six weeks, so instead of there being three months between Marvel movies, there will be five months between Marvel movies and I think we can all handle that.”
