Ewan McGregor informs fans that Obi-Wan Kenobi will Premiere on May 27th with Two Episodes

Ewan McGregor informs fans that Disney+ is shifting the series premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi to May 27th.

The first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi will be available on the premiere day, instead of only one, with subsequent episodes debuting each Wednesday.

Even though fans have to wait two days longer to see the return of the popular Jedi, we are being treated to two episodes in the first week!

Ewan McGregor informs fans in the following statement:

“Hello Star Wars fans. Thank you for all your incredible support and response to Obi-Wan Kenobi. I have some important news. Our premiere date is moving just a couple of days from Wednesday to Friday May the 27th. But here’s the exciting part: the first two episodes will premiere together. So make sure you tune in to both episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, streaming Friday, May the 27th, exclusively on Disney+.”

Ewan McGregor informs fans that the new series takes place ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, so a lot has changed in the galaxy.

The trailer offers hints about the state of the galaxy during Obi-Wan Kenobi’s exile. It shows how the Inquisitors are in full swing, hunting anyone who they suspect is a Jedi or Jedi sympathizer. People are scared of the Empire, and the Imperials are using that fear to control everything. Obi-Wan will be torn between his duty to protect Luke and his responsibilities as a Jedi Master.

The Grand Inquisitor, member of the Jedi hunters first glimpsed in Star Wars Rebels, is set to make his live-action debut played by Rupert Friend, with Sung Kang debuting the role of Fifth Brother from the series.

Other confirmed cast members include Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse as Owen and Beru Lars, with Jackson, Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, and Maya Erskine in undisclosed roles. There are rumors that Qui-Gon Jinn (played by Liam Neeson in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace) will appear, but time will tell what happens in the series.
