EPCOT Enhances World Nature and World Celebration with New Palm Trees

EPCOT is continuing to give its lush landscapes a fresh update! Following recent landscaping overhauls at the main entrance plaza, Disney horticulture teams have added new palm trees across both World Celebration and World Nature.

If you’ve taken a stroll through the front of the park recently, you might have noticed a few new tropical additions filling out flowerbeds that previously stood empty or held smaller plant varieties.

The latest additions bring a touch of height and extra greenery to two major neighborhoods in the park:

• World Celebration: A trio of palm trees has been planted in a large flowerbed located between the Imagination! Pavilion and CommuniCore Hall. This particular bed didn’t feature trees before—during the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, it was home to temporary displays like the Rain or Shine Fruit Stand garden.
• World Nature: Over near Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, a new palm tree now sits in a small, circular flowerbed right outside the walkthrough attraction. This replaces a smaller tree that previously occupied the space, which likely suffered damage during Florida’s winter cold snaps.

These new additions align with a broader landscaping trend across EPCOT. Just last month, Disney replaced older, frost-sensitive Foxtail palms near the main entrance plaza framing Spaceship Earth with Sylvester palms.

Sylvester palms are known for having thicker trunks, fuller fronds, and—most importantly—a much higher tolerance for cold weather. Central Florida occasionally experiences freezing temperatures in the winter months, which can leave sensitive palm species looking scorched or permanently damaged. By opting for heartier palm varieties, EPCOT’s horticulture team is ensuring the park stays vibrant and green year-round.
