Things are finally getting back to normal at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We saw some of our favorite friends floating along Discovery River on a flotilla.
Dug & Russell Flotilla from Pixar’s UP
Dug and Russell from Disney’s Pixar’s Up movie haven’t been seen in ages. They must have been out on some adventure. They were sailing the waters around the Tree of Life looking for Kevin yesterday. Make sure to keep your eyes open when visiting. We were lucky enough to find Kevin and let him know his friends were back and looking for him everywhere.

Scrooge McDuck & Launchpad Flotilla
We can’t say if they are off looking for lost treasure or those pesky nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie but one thing is for sure, we are so glad to see these guys back at Animal Kingdom. Where is Donald when you need his help?
Best Flotilla Viewing Spots

Across From the Friends in Flight Theatre
There are a few good viewing spots to watch the flotillas go by. Anywhere you can get a good view of Discovery River will work but our one top spot is in a shady area with plenty of seating and a perfect view of the Tree of Life as a bonus. The seating area across from the Feathered Friends in Flight show in Asia is a great place to wait for the flotillas to come by while staying nice and cool.
Flame Tree BBQ’s Waterside Seating
Grab some grub and take in a beautiful view of fountains, statues, greenery, and character flotillas drifting by.
Bleachers Near Expedition Everest
Plenty of seating over here which is great if the park is crowded or you have a larger group but it can be very sunny over here so plan accordingly.
Bridges
There are several bridges that offer perfect views of the flotillas coming and going.
Other Flotillas
The flotillas come by in threes and it’s about 15 to 20 minutes between sets so be prepared to hunker down and wait if you want to catch your favorite characters.
While there we spotted Pocahontas and Meeko, Timon, and Rafiki, and Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto were even out dressed in their finest safari gear.
Animal Kingdom is one of the most beautiful parks to visit. I love how the characters are integrated into the park. It also has some of the best scenery for picture taking. What are some of your favorite character sightings at Animal Kingdom?
