Drunk Man Salutes America (and Takes a Dip) at EPCOT
A rambunctious rendition of the American national anthem took an unexpected turn at EPCOT recently when a visibly intoxicated man decided to express his patriotic fervor by taking an impromptu swim in the American Adventure fountain. The incident, captured on video and shared on TikTok, quickly went viral, showcasing the highs and lows of “drinking around the world.”

The video, posted by Brooke Kelly (@brookekelley), begins with the caption “how ‘drink around the world’ started.” It shows a group of friends gathered near the entrance of the American Adventure pavilion, beverages in hand, enthusiastically belting out “The Star-Spangled Banner.” As their performance gained momentum, so did their apparent level of intoxication.

Amidst the spirited singing, one man, sporting a light pink shirt and gray shorts, broke away from the group. Continuing to sing the final notes of the anthem, he suddenly leaped over the edge of the fountain, splashing into the water with arms raised in apparent triumph. He then proceeded to run through the fountain as he finished the song.
However, the aquatic celebration was short-lived. The video abruptly cuts to a shot of the same man being escorted out of EPCOT by Disney security personnel, accompanied by the caption “how it ended.” Kelly added text below the video stating, “this definitely did NOT go as we planned.” The video offered no further details on the consequences faced by the fountain-diving patriot.
Walt Disney World has clear rules prohibiting guests from entering the park’s water features for safety and maintenance reasons. While “drinking around the world” in EPCOT’s World Showcase is a popular activity, this incident serves as a reminder that excessive alcohol consumption can lead to the disregard of park regulations.
This isn’t the first instance of unruly behavior fueled by alcohol at EPCOT.
