The results from Walt Disney World Princess Half Marathon are in, Shannon Crawford from Bronxville, NY is the winner with a time of 1:24:49. Second place winner was Brooke Adams of Randolph, New York (1:26:10) and third place was Heather Schulz of Orlando, Florida(1:27:06).

Shannon Crawford has been playing soccer since she was a child in suburban New York City, she is a senior at University of Virginia and has recently taken up distant running. Winning this marathon was especially magical since she isn’t even on the school running team. When asked about winning she was quoted saying;

“Disney is probably my second favorite thing in the world besides my family and friends, so I just decided to run this race,’’ she said. “It was the most incredible feeling ever. I’m still in shock.’’

The Princess half marathon closes out the 4 day race weekend, which is mostly woman, which included events and races such as Disney Princes 5K, Disney Princess Enchanted 10K and runDisney kids races. There was also the Glass Slipper challenge which includes those runners competing in the 10K from Saturday and the marathon on Sunday.

Also happening this weekend were family geared events such as Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Breakfast, the Pasta in the Park Party and the Happily Ever After Party. There was also health and fitness expos with the latest equipment and fitness apparel. runDisney’s official trainer, Jeff Galloway was also present.

This marathon weekend is one of two annual runDisney events geared towards woman, the other even being Tinkerbell Half Marathon Weekend in Anaheim, California, sponsored by Pandora Jewelry and takes place in May. Both of these events promote woman’s health and fitness, and are among the nation’s largest race weekends geared towards women.

Congrats to everyone who participated in all of the activities this weekend!
