This is the news I’ve been waiting to hear. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney’s live action version of Maleficent will begin filming in June. Angelina Jolie will star as the title villain and is reportedly excited about the film because of the relationship the movie will explore between Maleficent and Sleeping Beauty.
Elle Fanning (Super 8) is in talks to play Aurora and Robert Stromberg will be making his directorial debut. He was the production designer on Alice and Wonderland and Disney’s upcoming Oz the Great and Powerful. Stromberg is reportedly in the U.K. prepping for the film. Personally, I am really looking forward to this movie. Maleficent has always been my favorite Disney villain and I can’t wait to see what Jolie does with the character.
