Disney’s Live-Action ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Now Streaming on Disney+. The live-action film Beauty and the Beast was released in 2017, grossing over $1 billion at the global box office and won over audiences world-wide despite initial concerns over adapting the animated feature film into a live-action film.
Disney+ has also ordered a 6-episode musical prequel series for Beauty and the Beast, called “Little Town.” The new series will feature Gaston (Luke Evans) and LeFou (Josh Gad) with rumors that Emma Watson (Belle) and Dan Stevens (Beast/Prince Adam) may appear in guest roles. It is currently unknown if other cast members such as Ewan McGregor (Lumiere), Kevin Klein (Maurice), Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts), Ian McKellan (Cogsworth), and others will join the 6-episode series. Also rumored to return is Oscar winning composer and Disney Legend, Alan Menken.
“The story and characters you love come to life in the live-action adaption of Disney’s animated classic, one of the most beloved tales ever told. Experience the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who, seeking to rescue her father, is taken prisoner by a Beast in his castle.”
Both the live-action and animated Beauty and the Beast films are now streaming via Disney+, you can check out the official trailer for the live-action adaption in the video below:
