If you have visited the Grand Floridian or been a bride at Disney World in the past 25 years, you know who Richard Gerth is. He is the legendary greeter and bride’s assistant who has held both positions since 1992. Even if you have ever swung by the Grand Floridian for a quick visit on the monorail or maybe to check out the Gingerbread Houses during Christmas, chances are you have met Richard.

Unfortunately, reports on the internet and The Inquisitor indicate that Richard lost some or most of his possessions due to Hurricane Irma. Other reports indicate that Richard was located in a shelter after the storm passed through by a fellow Cast Member and is now staying at the Grand Floridian.

We are happy to report that the hurricane didn’t affect his magical spirit! Chip & Co fan, Beth Smith-Gilbert, spotted Richard right back at work this week and snapped this great photo of him.

Several “Go Fund Me” pages have been set up for Richard. However, since we can’t validate the credibility of the pages, we advise you to stay away from them and cannot be liable if you chose to make a donation to one of them.

The Inquisitor is also reporting that the following was recently posted on a Disney Facebook fan page:

“I am told today that Richard is now aware of fundraising that various people have organized, and would prefer any donations be made to the assisted living facility where he has residence: Good Samaritan Kissimmee Village, which is located along low-lying Shingle Creek. I am not promoting any of the fundraisers or Go Fund Me pages, and please be vigilant if you do contribute to one of them. Also, the management at Grand Floridian wants everyone to be aware that Cast members cannot accept gifts while on stage and on duty while on property.”

A local news station covered the damage to Good Samaritan Village by Hurricane Irma. You can read more about it by CLICKING HERE.
