Disney's 'Enchanted' Sequel Confirmed By Director Adam Shankman

Disney’s ‘Enchanted’ Sequel Confirmed By Director Adam Shankman. The long rumored sequel is soon to be a reality! Disney has officially hired on Director Adam Shankman to direct two sequels, Hocus Pocus 2 and Disenchanted.

Disenchanted will be the sequel to the 2007 film, Enchanted. The film starred Amy Adams (Giselle) and Patrick Dempsey (Robert).

“In the fairy-tale land of Andalasia, pretty young Giselle frolics with her woodland pals, and falls in love with the handsome Prince Edward, but when Giselle arrives at the castle to marry her Prince Charming, his evil stepmother sends the princess-to-be to a place where there are `no happy ever afters’: New York City. Cynical divorce lawyer Robert comes to her rescue, but can Giselle find her way back to her true love?”

News that the sequel was in the works broke in June 2019 and now nearly 9 months later the film has officially bee confirmed by Adam Shankman via his Instagram account. Shankman shared 2 photos with the films working titles on the front cover of two scripts along with this caption:
“Thanks with all of my heart dear [Disney.] Looks like I’ll be working on a looooooottttt of magic for awhile… I feel incredibly honored and humbled to be guiding forward these two Disney crown jewel legacies. My only hope is to honor those who came before me and build something new and exciting, as I desperately try to not let down the fans and enchant the new initiates!
Fingers crossed! Xo”

IMDb lists Disenchanted as “in-production” with credits for Amy Adams returning as Giselle, and rumored return of actors James Marsden (Prince Edward) and Patrick Dempsey (Robert Philip). Also credited is director Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Rock of Ages, A Walk to Remember) and Writers: Rita Hsiao, Bill Kelly, Jessie Nelson, J.David Stem, and David Weiss.

Though an official logo has yet to be released by Disney for the film, the logo that has been circulating social media after being released by TheDisInsider, shows a very similar style to the original films design. The potentially fan-made logo may not be the real deal, but it certainly has folks chatting and is currently posted on the film IMDb page.

Disney's 'Enchanted' Sequel Confirmed By Director Adam Shankman

In early 2019 Disney Legend, Alan Menken, discussed the films development during an interview with Den of Geek.

”Yes, we’re doing Enchanted 2,” he confirmed to Den of Geek.

“We’ve had meetings,” he added. “Five films I have right now that are waiting for a greenlight. They’re all standing at the light right now, and at some point they’re going to go ‘greenlight’!” Menken also stated that he wouldn’t be surprised if they all got the green light at once, and take over his professional life for the foreseeable future.

Menken became a Disney Legend after working on scores for films such as: The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Enchanted, Tangled, and many more Disney related titles.

Disenchanted does not have a release date as of yet, but as production moves forward we will be happy to share any news regarding the sequel. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Company for all things Disney!
