Disney-Pixar and State of Wyoming Teaming Up For The Good Dinosaur Promotion

The upcoming Walt Disney / Pixar film “The Good Dinosaur” is coming to theaters, November 25, 2015.  With the release of the film, an agreement between Disney-Pixar and the State of Wyoming where the film was based has been reached to promote travel to the locations where filming occurred.   Wyoming Office of Tourism will be promoting The Good Dinosaur alongside Disney-Pixar to invite visitors to their beautiful state.  The Office of Tourism officials will also be at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles to share the connection between the film and actual locations in Wyoming sharing all the excitement and detail of the dinosaurs’ history in Wyoming.

“The film is visually stunning, and the setting is very characteristic of the Wyoming scenery we know and love,” Shober said. “‘The Good Dinosaur’ is a perfect fit for Wyoming with the mountain backdrops, sweeping landscapes, and ties to paleontology and culture of the American West.”

Although the Wyoming Office of Tourism has been involved with other projects with Disney, this is the first time the partnership has been of an advertising nature.  “What we really hope is that this will move the needle on young families who have younger kids but are still in the adventure stage of their lives,” Mickey said. “Even though it’s an animated film, because of how well the Disney-Pixar team did, the locations and backgrounds of this film, it almost looks like you could be there.”

Since the setting for The Good Dinosaur is set in prehistoric times, the city of Cheyenne doesn’t come up in the film but the Office of Tourism is hoping movie goers will still find the paleontological points of interest and the state’s dinosaur connections a location to visit.  “We’ve got a small dinosaur here in our State Museum, and there’s a replica mammoth at the state tourism site on Interstate 25 south of town,” Pope said.

Advertising by the State of Wyoming’s Office of Tourism for the film will run from mid-November to mid-December, then again later in the winter.
