Though it may have seemed like just another weekend in May, guests visiting Disneyland theme park this past Saturday and Sunday where surprised to find heaving crowds with many visitors reportedly being turned away at the gates as a result of the park reaching capacity.
So what made May 21st and 22nd such popular dates to be visiting the West Coast Mouse? It was the last weekend for Southern California Resident Passholders to enjoy the park before the Summer blackout dates were implemented. This resulted in a large swell in crowd levels necessitating a closure.
Guests that were lucky enough to get into Disneyland theme park did not fare much better with 3 hour wait times being reported for key headlining attractions such as Splash Mountain and Space Mountain.
Even with the Summer blackout dates going into affect, crowds are expected to remain consistent into Memorial Day weekend with Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission BREAKOUT! scheduled to open at Disney California Adventure on May 27th.
