Permit Filed: Disneyland to Demolish La Brea Bakery

Disneyland has finally filed a permit to demolish the former La Brea Bakery in the Downtown Disney District. The location is currently the home of Earl of Sandwich.

According to Theme Park IQ, the permit states the bakery building along with two ticket booths at Disney California Adventure will be demolished. The area will eventually be turned into the new Porto’s Bakery that was announced years ago.

Permit entry:
DTD – La Brea Bakery/BLDG #K – Ticket Booths #7/8 – Demolition: 2,610 sq ft bakery/restaurant with utilities to be capped and foundation to be removed. 865 sq ft ticket booth #7 with utilities to be capped and foundation to be removed. 865 sq ft ticket booth #8

Looking at the concept art for the bakery, it appears the building will take up quite a lot of space. With the permit showing two ticket booths being demolished, it’s safe to say Porto’s Bakery will be quite the location in Downtown Disney!

Beloved throughout Southern California for its delectable sweet pastries, desserts, and unique California-Cuban-inspired cuisine, Porto’s Bakery & Cafe is a highly anticipated addition to Downtown Disney. When it opens, visitors can look forward to savoring signature items such as the famous Potato Ball (Papa Rellena) with its rich potato puree and Rosa’s picadillo, the irresistible Cheese Roll with its creamy filling in flaky puff pastry, the savory Chicken Empanada filled with Cuban-style chicken fricassee, and the sweet and tangy Refugiado (Guava and Cheese Strudel).

Disney has previously announced that construction would begin on Porto’s in 2025 and Porto’s has previously shared that their new location would be “coming to Downtown Disney in Anaheim in 2025.” There is no official opening date for the bakery but we can’t wait to finally be able to dine there!
