Underwater Wonders Amidst Cherry Blossoms: Disney in Washington DC

Originating with a 1912 gift at the Tidal Basin, the National Cherry Blossom Festival has turned into a four-week celebration. Now encompassing Washington DC, and neighboring areas in Maryland and Virginia, the festival invites everyone to experience the full splendor of spring in the capital region, featuring everything from dynamic events and special restaurant menus (“Cherry Picks”) to captivating art installations (“Art in Bloom”), inviting hotel accommodations, and much more.

In a delightful addition to the nation’s most cherished springtime event, Princess Ariel and Prince Eric from Disney’s The Little Mermaid made her first appearance at Washington, D.C.’s National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Her presence brought an extra layer of enchantment to the festivities on Constitution Avenue.

While this was Ariel’s first appearance in the parade, Mickey and Minnie Mouse returned for their third consecutive year. Eric and Ariel rode in a horse-drawn carriage while Mickey & Minnie waved to viewers from a gazebo atop a parade float.
