Disney to Launch New Charity License Plates for California Children’s Hospitals

California Disney fans, it’s time to trade in those plain white license plates for a little extra pixie dust!

A magical new collaboration has just been announced between the Disneyland Resort, the California Children’s Hospital Association (CCHA), and the California State Treasurer’s Office. Together, they are launching a brand-new Disneyland-themed specialty license plate, with proceeds going directly to support 13 children’s hospitals across the Golden State.

For years, Disney fans in Florida have been able to sport Walt Disney World plates to benefit Make-A-Wish, and now West Coast fans finally get their chance to drive with a purpose.

While the final design is still under wraps (Disney loves a good surprise!), the mission is clear. Revenue from the plates will be deposited into a state fund administered by the California Health Facilities Financing Authority (CHFFA). The funds will support essential healthcare services, clinical education, and patient-family support programs at hospitals including:

• Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
• CHOC (Children’s Health of Orange County)
• Rady Children’s (San Diego)
• UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals
• …and many more across the state.

Disneyland Resort President Jill Estorino shared that this initiative carries forward Walt Disney’s personal legacy of visiting children’s hospitals to bring joy and comfort to patients.

Before these hit the road, there is one “mountain” to climb. The California DMV requires a minimum of 7,500 preorders before the plates can officially go into production.

Here is the breakdown of the costs:

• Sequential Plate (Standard): $50 (with a $40 annual renewal fee)
• Personalized Plate: $103 (with an $83 annual renewal fee)

Note: These fees are in addition to your standard annual vehicle registration.
