Disneyland Resort loves to celebrate! And May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AANHPI), so they are pulling out all the stops to recognize these diverse cultures. In Downtown Disney, enjoy complimentary musical performances! Faiva is a 4-piece Polynesian band that will be performing harmonies on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Filharmonic, a 5-piece Filipino acapella vocal group, performs hip hop, pop, and ‘90s nostalgia on Tuesdays. On Thursdays and Fridays, catch Tupua’s Polynesian show of dance and drums. And on Saturdays and Sundays, the Chinese Cultural Splendor will show you Chinese dances, martial arts, lion dance, and costumes of Chinese dynasties. There’s a performance every day of the week, but the question remains: which one is your must-see?

Artist signings will be held at WonderGround Gallery on May 21st and 22nd. You can get pieces autographed by artists such as Jerrod Maruyama, Joey Chou, Ann Shen, and June Kim from 3 PM to 5 PM.

Hungry yet? Try a tasty macaron at Kayla’s Cake, a bakery cart! I can personally vouch for the incredible flavors there. You’ll want to try them all! This company was founded by sisters Kayla Lee and Eunjoo Kang.

You’ll also want to make a stop at Disneyland Hotel to take advantage of the live nightly ukulele music and complimentary hula lessons on the weekends! Find them in Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar. Other resort experiences include ukulele lessons, making a ribbon lei, and practicing the ancient Chinese martial art of tai chi. These experiences are limited to overnight hotel guests. For reservations and more information, contact a Disneyland Resort Hotel Front Desk to reserve your complimentary spot, subject to availability.

Guests over the age of 21 can partake in a sake flight and craft cocktail by Nova Brewing Co. at the Hearthstone Lounge in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. You can also commemorate this month’s celebration with a limited-time “Turning Red” photo op at Disney California Adventure Park. And don’t miss the Children’s Day window display outside the Emporium at Disneyland Park. This window pays tribute to Japanese Children’s Day (May 5th). Carp streamers symbolize success and ornamental kabuto helmets represent wishes for strength. The window also shows games from other cultures such as Sungka (Philippines), Traditional Indian Chess, Mahjong (China), Konane (Hawaiian Islands & Polynesia), Nei-pat-ko-no (Korea), and Kendama (Japan).

Want more? There are still plenty of AANHPI-inspired food items all year long at Disneyland Resort. Delicious options like the Loco Moco Bao, Spiced Vegetable Bao, and Sweet Lumpia at Tropical Hideaway at Disneyland park, Thick & Fluffy Japanese pancakes, Tonkotsu Ramen, and Poke Bowls at Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill at the Disneyland Hotel, and Kung Pao Bao at Lamplight Lounge at Disney California Adventure park.

Happy Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!
