Guests won’t be able to spend Christmas Day at the Disneyland Resort this year. Originally the Downtown Disney District was going to be open but we now know that it, including Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure, will be closed.
Disneyland and Disney California Adventure have been closed for most of the year due to COVID-19 and strict state guidelines. Downtown Disney reopened this summer and last month select shopping and dining locations reopened on Buena Vista Street.

Now we know that nothing at the Disneyland Resort will be open on Christmas Day.
OC Register reported Disneyland President Ken Potrock sent a letter to Cast Members saying, “For six decades, Christmas Day has always been a special time at the Disneyland Resort, where our cast members have welcomed generations of guests to make cherished memories. But this year is certainly different. Given the continued closure of our theme parks and hotels, and in alignment with typical Christmas operations at other retail locations and shopping centers, we have made the decision to close the Downtown Disney District, including Buena Vista Street, on Christmas Day.”
Currently, the Southern California region is under a stay-at-home order enacted by California Governor Gavin Newsom as a result of the pandemic. Due to the current restrictions, only shopping and to-go dining is being offered at Downtown Disney for the time being. The stay-at-home order will last at least three weeks.
