Fort Wilderness to Trim the Tent Crowd: Campsite Capacity Changing in 2026
Heads up, happy campers! Disney just announced a subtle but important change coming to The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort in 2026, and it might impact your next group glamping getaway.
Currently, up to 10 adults can cozy up at a single campsite. But starting January 1, 2026, that number will be reduced to 8 adults per site. While two fewer adventurers might not sound like a huge shift, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re planning a big group trip under the stars (or, you know, in the comfort of an air-conditioned RV with a Mickey waffle in hand).

When booking online, guests will now notice separate booking sections for 2025 and 2026, clearly indicating this updated occupancy rule. So, make sure to double-check the year before finalizing your reservation!
A Wilderness Stay That’s Pure Disney Magic
For those unfamiliar, Fort Wilderness is a beloved retreat nestled in the piney woods just a boat ride away from Magic Kingdom. It’s Disney’s answer to the great outdoors, complete with RV pads, tent-friendly sites, and even cabins for those who prefer their “roughing it” with running water and Wi-Fi.
The resort features:
- Scenic trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding
- Campfire sing-alongs with Chip ‘n’ Dale (don’t forget the marshmallows!)
- Canoe and kayak rentals
- Archery lessons, pony rides, and a rockin’ ranch atmosphere at Tri-Circle-D Ranch
- And yes, golf cart rentals so you can zip around your wilderness domain in style

Be sure to check out the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue during your visit; this long-running dinner show is packed with slapstick, Southern food, and a whole lotta cornbread.
So while you might need to tweak your group size a bit starting in 2026, Fort Wilderness is still the wildest, most wonderful way to experience Walt Disney World — campfires, critters, and all.
