You may remember that a young child drowned a few months back in a Disney World pool. So Disney has now said they will be locking down all the larger pools (main theme pools) at night and putting lifeguards at all the larger pools during operating hours.
Their large pools will now open at 7am or 9am and close down at 11pm so lifeguards will be there during those hours. Only some of the smaller pools in certain resorts will stay open all hours.
Since guests will no longer be permitted to swim after hours, Disney is installing a fence around all of their “feature” pools. This renovation will begin in the next few months.

Are you sure that by “locking up” the pools at night they aren’t letting people swim at all? We just got back from Art of Animation… the pool was gated, one needed to use a room key or magic band to get in. So, the pool was technically “locked up” though available for swimming.
