Disney World is testing a new feature on the My Disney Experience app. This new feature is called Merchandise Mobile Checkout. Since the Walt Disney World Resort reopened this summer Disney has been promoting cashless/contactless payments.
Guests have been able to pre-order and pay for quick-service food and snacks at the Disney World theme parks and hotels. Now, guests can also pay for merchandise from Disney’s stores and gift shops.

According to the My Disney Experience app, this feature is now being tested!
Guests visiting the shops where mobile checkout is available are being asked to grab a designated mobile checkout bag. Then, using your mobile phone, you can scan the items you want to purchase.
When you are finished, tap the checkout button and pay for the items. As you leave the store, you will need to show a Cast Member your QR code so they can confirm purchases. You will need a smartphone or tablet with a camera that can scan images in order to use this feature.
This is a great system for social distancing and cutting down on lines! Guests can still check out at a register with a Cast Member if they want to.
What do you think? Will you be using this mobile checkout option for your merchandise purchases?
