Disney World Food Review - The Good, the Bad, and the YUM!

My family and I live for the food at Disney World. When planning our vacation most of our entire trip revolves around the food. Being a Disney Foodie and dined at almost every Disney World Restaurant we know what to expect when going out. Our past trip was a major challenge in 2 ways.

  1. This is the first time we went off the Disney Dining Plan and opted for the Tables in Wonderland instead.
  2. Our 5 year old decided she wasn’t going to eat but maybe 3 or 4 bites of food so the buffets were wasted on her.

So we arrived at Disney World with a bunch of buffets and a child who wouldn’t eat.

No problem with the Disney World Online Advanced Dining Reservation System, I was able to go online and change many of our buffets to a traditional restaurant.

So with new ADR’s in hand we ventured off to a few new stops and some classic ones we haven’t been to in a while.

The Good

Beaches and Cream – This won the award for the best place to dine for us this time around. Last year it was Boma but they fell off the map (more later) on this trip. Beaches and Cream was so good we went back twice! While not daring enough to try the Kitchen Sink they have one tasty burger! Both times I went I got a Cherry & Vanilla Coke, a Cheeseburger with everything and either fries or onion rings.

For dessert we had the Milky Way Sundae (seen above) I am not a huge Ice Cream fan but this was delish!

Price was under $50 both times or 1 TS credit if your on the Disney Dining Plan. There are no reservations but both times there was less than a 5 minute wait.

The Bad

It’s funny how one restaurant can go from First to Worst. Boma was that restaurant this time around. Last year we loved Boma so much we went back twice. The food was flavorful, rich and delicious. This time around the food was tasteless, bland, and service was really bad.

I am not sure if they have a new chef or if they were told to make the food bland but it was bad. I already removed Boma from our January trip and I hope when we go back next October they will have their act together.

The YUM

Starring Rolls Cafe in Hollywood Studios won the award for the Yummiest Food this go around. This 4 little beauties above were so good they made me forget how HOT and Crowded the parks were.  Pictures can not do them justice so all I can say is save those snack credits and hit them up atleast 4 times a visit. (one visit for each cupcake)

Overall the whole trip was good and bad. Good that most of the food was great as always, bad cause my wife and infant both were sick and then my oldest and myself got sick when we returned.

I am looking forward to January as we have a whole list of new places to eat. This time we are going with the Disney Dining Plan as the Tables in Wonderland wasn’t for us. We are foodies and love to eat! Stay tuned for the next edition of the Good, Bad, and YUM!

  1. We ate at Boma 2 times this past trip, 1 breakfast and 1 dinner. I have to say the breakfast was a let down, the service was horrible. The food WHEN we got it was just ok. The dinner rocked though, I have never ever had such good chicken in my life. But Oliva’s at Old Key West-won’t be going back there. Service was great and nice, food not table service quality. At All. I do think the resturants are hit n miss. We ate at the castle a couple years ago and it was horrrrible, I mean horrible. We went with pretty safe choices(beef?)- not going back. But i have read others loved the food so ya never know I guess. Over all though-food is good!!! The experience was fun to be in the castle however!! Boys would not get their pic taken with Cinderella-too funny (shy). My husband and I did lol!!
    love your site! C&Co rocks!

  2. Well we went to Boma’s last week for dinner and it was great as always.
Maybe they were having an off day the time you went. That happened to us once at the Cape May Cafe’.

  3. Thanks! Seriously craving sweets now after this article…fine for you if your on vacation but I am not (yet!) 🙂 Thanks for making me excited to go eat…oh, and go to Disney!!!

  4. Unlike the rest of my family, food is how my husband and I plan our trips to Disney! We’ve tried several of the restaurants (we hit a lot of them on the trip we did the Deluxe Dinning option). We were planning on introducing my parents to the Kitchen Sink on this trip (its soo good!) But after seeing pictures of the Milky Way Sunday, I’m starting to rethink what we’ll get!!!!

Keep us posted on Boma! It was on our list for the trip after this upcoming one!

  5. Thanks for the updates on restaurants! As a family that doesn’t do buffets, it is hard to go to restaurants at Disney…plus my youngest is a very picker eater so that knocks out a lot more too! I am happy to hear about Beaches and Cream, we have never been and I will definitely try and get in when we go in February!!

  6. First, I <3 the Online reservation system!! 🙂 I am constantly changing reservations so it's perfect for me! Next, I can't wait to go to Beaches n Cream now!!: ) Thanks for the picture… the milky way sundae looks amazing!! 🙂

  7. My fav dessert at HS is the carrot cake cookie from Beverly Sunset Sweet Spells. That thing is to die for. The “cookie” is actually moist carrot cake n its filled w cream cheese icing..soo yummy!

  8. I love Beaches and Cream. It is always a must do.
Sorry to hear about Boma, it is one of our favorites. We are eating there at the end of the month, I hope we have a better experience.

  9. I’m sad to hear about Boma. It was truly one of our favorites for the last 3 visits running. I hope things inprove before we return.
