Guests don’t visit Disney theme parks just for the rides and attractions. Disney food has guests coming back time after time! Some restaurants even offer large portions, which feels nice considering the prices.

Now, those portion sizes may start shrinking. During Disney’s fourth quarter earnings call yesterday, it was suggested that the company could cut food portion sizes to save money.

Disney CFO, Christine McCarthy, said, “We can cut portion size, which is probably good for some people’s waistlines.”

“We aren’t going to go just straight across and increase prices. We’re going to try to get the algorithm right to cut where we can and not necessarily do things the same way,” she said.

Guests may start to see food portion sizes shrink while pricing remains the same or even increases. It will all depend Disney’s “algorithm”.

What do you think about the potential portion size change?

  1. They should start with the gigantic portions served at Liberty Tavern in MK. So much waste. Hopefully it all goes to the biogas facility.

  2. Maybe Disney Executives should start by cutting their pay to help the algorithm. My gosh the average person saves for years to have this Magical experience for their family. But I guess the average child and families don’t matter. This food cut back is just a symptom of how the rich don’t care about the average family. And changing the color on Cinderella’s Castle is ridiculous too. The Castle is iconic and should stay the same – NO PINK paint – Do any of the execs care about protecting the image of Disney and keeping the Magic. Please save this experience for the average child to have a chance to come to the Magic Kingdom. When prices go up or sizes go down it never goes back. Like I said it is just a symptom of all the expense and the bottom line is still packing someone’s pockets. That greed never helps the average person, who just want a once or twice in a lifetime experience for their family.

  3. We are a Disney vacation club member and are very disappointed in their decision to eliminate the magical express. Disney is making their park no different than any other one.
