Disney Springs adds mural by Houston Artist Emily Ding for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

May marks Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and Walt Disney World is celebrating with a range of offerings. At Disney Springs, the Disney Springs Art Walk: A Canvas of Expression is a key highlight, showcasing the work of diverse artists.

Houston artist Emily Ding has contributed a new mural, “Taking Flight,” in honor of the month. Known for her vibrant, large-scale murals inspired by flora, fauna, and human temperament, Ding’s work features expressive animals and figures brought to life through bold color gradients and a fluid, painterly style.

“Taking Flight” exemplifies Ding’s unique approach, capturing themes of freedom and resilience. This addition to the Disney Springs Art Walk invites visitors to explore and appreciate the rich cultural tapestry and creativity of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
