The statue of Comedian Bill Cosby has been removed from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame Plaza in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A Disney spokesman confirmed early Wednesday that it was removed when the park closed on Tuesday night. The Hall of Fame area is where Disney pays tribute to the Golden Age of television.
The removal comes after the Associated Press obtained court documents from 2005 where he admitted to obtaining drugs with the intent of giving them to women with whom he planned to have sex with.
“Especially now that a document has been released where he has admitted to it, I don’t think that someone like that should be placed on a pedestal, especially where people bring their families,” Brittany Gavrilova told news station WESH.
Gavrilova had posted a petition on Change.org several months ago calling for the bust’s removal.
Cosby has never been criminally charged in connection with the accusations.
