Disney Removes Nearly All Nooses from Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris

Reports online are stating that Disneyland Paris has taken down almost all nooses from the Phantom Manor attraction in an effort to remove sensitive content for guests who find the topic of suicide disturbing.

According to Phantom Manor Legends, all nooses were removed from the attraction except the one held by the Phantom in the Stretching Room preshow. The removal includes the end scene where a noose formerly hung over a coffin next to the Phantom.

Here is more information on Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris:

Tucked away in a corner of Frontierland stands Phantom Manor, once home to one of Thunder Mesa’s founding families. Local residents steer clear of the dilapidated house, claiming it to be haunted, but any intrepid Disneyland Park visitors who dare to enter will soon discover its terrible secrets.

The owner of the manor, Henry Ravenswood, cherished his only daughter, Melanie, who attracted the attention of four different men… each of whom came to a mysterious and untimely end. Rumour has it that her father didn’t think any of them were good enough for his darling girl. In fact, some say he had a hand in the young men’s disappearances, but nothing has ever been proven. One thing is certain, the bride-to-be has been waiting many long years for her wedding day… and will likely wait for hundreds more!

Disney has been toning down many disturbing elements in various rides and attractions at all of their theme parks. Guests were the first to notice that several nooses were removed from the ride almost immediately.

Both Disney World’s and Disneyland’s versions of Haunted Mansion have undergone changes over the years but the nooses have remained for now. There is no word if Disney plans on removing the hanging scenes in the United States yet.
